2009 was the year of radical changes. We moved home with our children and all our belongings from the chaotic city of Rome, to the little lakeside village of Anguillara Sabazia. Fresh air, less stress and the atmosphere of a healthy life in the countryside. 
And, not to be forgotten, the lake, or I should say the lakes that we are surrounded by – Lake Bracciano with all its attractive leisure activites and Lake Martignano, smaller but wonderfully embedded in the nature reserve area, which surrounds Anguillara.
Homesick for Rome? Even that is no problem – with a 40-minute drive, or in less than one and a half hours by public transport we can visit our old friends or our grandparents or reach the centre of Rome. What more do you want!
CasaCucù is a small apartment, which we have set up as a holiday home. It is connected to our own apartment by a little garden. CasaCucù consists of two rooms -one bedroom with a double bed (1,60x2m) and a living-room with a fold-out sofa bed. Besides the sleeping options that are sufficient for befriended couples or a couple with children, there are two bathrooms (one with a shower,one with a bath) and a small kitchen. The bathroom with the bath tub is directly attached to the bedroom, while the other bathroom with the shower is near the entrance to the apartment. Nearly all the furniture is made of massive poplar wood which we sanded, stripped and waxed ourselves. While doing this, we took care to use only organic paints and wax.
CasaCucù is centrally located and it’s only a 10 minute walk from the flat to the historical village centre and to the Lake Bracciano. Whoever wants to travel to Rome can either use their own car or go by train from Anguillara Sabazia. The train station is 3.8 km from the holiday flat and the trains run every 30 minutes right up into the evening hours. The train ride takes 40 minutes (the fare is 1,5 Euro) to the underground station Valle Aurelia (Metro A). From there you can easily reach all other destinations. For adventurous people it’s also possible to take the bus from the centre of Anguillara to the main station. We haven’t tried it out ourselves but it seems to work perfectly. Those who do not want to visit Rome on the other hand could also consider taking a trip to Viterbo (also reachable by train), or to one of the many other traditional villages or typical countryside beauty spots in the surrounding district. But even for those who “only” want to relax CasaCucù provides the necessary peacefulness and holiday atmosphere. The lakes, especially in the summer, are sufficient in themselves to make your stay unique.
